I Love Acts of Kindness

There was a monsoon tonight. Not just a monsoon but it actually rained to about two hours. For people who are not from Arizona this does not seem like a big deal but here this is a major event. I am not saying this as a sarcastic comment. Really here when it rains that much if floods, especially up where my parents live. I went to my friend Emily's house to help her pack to go on a trip. I was driving down Cave Creel Road (yes it's actually called that) and going south it was flooded but still drivable. Going north on Cave Creek it was completely flooded and cacti were knocked down in the middle of the road. (Yes cacti not trees. Also, the plural for cactus is cacti not cactuses.) Anyway, so there were cars stopped and at one point the police were blocking it off so that you couldn't go north. So, needless to say I was not turning around to go home. I got to Emily's house and I stayed until 11 thinking it would be better by then. So, I got to Cave Creek Road and it was blocked off. Then I went to the next street over that could get me to my house which was Tatum and it was blocked off. Finally I got to Scottsdale Road and it was not. I went up there going about 35 miles an hour because it was still flooded just not as bad as the others. I turned on Lone Mountain and there was dirt everywhere making it a very slow drive. Then I drive up and see these people sitting on cars that are stuck in this mudd and water. Turns out the people who lived on this road and who were stuch waiting for tow trucks were helping people get through and had shovels and were pushing cars when they couldn't make it. This struck me as one of the nicest things I've ever witnesses in real life. I mean it's something kind of small but these people were sitting out with their pants rolled up wading (sp?) in muddy water helping people. Luckily I didn't get stuck but only because they told me what to do. I made it home but it took me an hour which it would normally take about 25 minutes.
Anyway, that really long story was to say that I love it when people help other people without expecting anything. Sorry if this post was boring but I had to share that.
